Kuantan, 4th July 2023 : Majlis Pembangunan Wilayah Ekonomi Pantai Timur (ECERDC) continues to be strong and committed in helping to improve the economy in Pahang when it succeeds in raising the level of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2022 beyond the national growth rate of 8.7 percent.
YAB Chief Minister of Pahang, Dato' Sri Haji Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said, the involvement of ECERDC in the development of domestic capital by the Kingdom of Pahang can also minimise the development gap in the out-of-town area versus the city area.
"Indeed since there is this ECERDC we have seen an increase (development of human capital) especially once the level of drops out, the gap is decreasing, if in the past we found the gap of drops out among the Orang Asli community was so high because they did not come to school but when there is development of human capital, ECERDC has come down to padang and take part continuously to help so that the level of drops out among the Orang Asli can be lowered.
"With the existence of ECERDC, the economic improvement has increased and it has been proven that in the last year had occupied the third place in terms of KDNK exceeding the national paras," he said when met after the celebration ceremony of ECERDC's 15th Anniversary at the Zenith Hotel, here today.
Also present were The Secretary State of Pahang, YB Dato' Indera Zulkifili Yaacob, The State of Pahang Exco line-up and ECERDC Chief Executive Officer, YH. Dato' Baidzawi Che Mat.
In the fifteen years after ECERDC's founding, pledged investments of RM162.3 billion have been made, of which RM80 billion have been realised.
In that regard, Dato' Sri Haji Wan Rosdy said, he hoped for more involvement of the people of Pahang in the field of entrepreneurship and economy in the future and targeting greater development in the West Pahang region in the next 3 to 5 years.
