Pahang investments in Aerospace and Flood Management 'Magnetises' Investors local and Internationally

KUANTAN - Two amphibious boats worth RM1.8 million belonging to the state of Pahang are on display at the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA 2023) to promote the country's amphibious boat manufacturing industry.

Chief Minister of Pahang Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said both boats were on display at the exhibition center and the Langkawi Royal Yatch Club from May 23 to May 27.

The move was utilised to attract more investors for the amphibian bot manufacturing industry to potential prospects as well as being able to provide job opportunities within the sector.

"Sealegs International Ltd with the cooperation of Perbadanan Setiausaha Kerajaan (PSK)/Invest Pahang brought two amphibious boats on May 21, we took the opportunity to promote and provide test pilot sessions at this LIMA exhibition.

"Now the amphibious boat technology is already in our own country and located in Pahang. You would not need to go New Zealand where manufacturing, servicing including marketing is already in Malaysia.

"In addition, Pahang's involvement this time is also to promote the new airport and Aerospace City to increase the investment attraction of Pahang," he said when contacted.

The Chief Minister is currently in Langkawi to provide support to Pahang's participation in LIMA 2023 which is a world-class maritime and aerospace commercial sector event.

LIMA 2023 started on May 23 and is considered the biggest in its history after attracting 525 exhibitors representing 140 companies from around the world this year.

The 16th edition of LIMA saw 119 aircraft accompanying the static and aerobatic displays, in addition to 40 naval vessels from home and abroad.and the last time it was held in 2019.

He added that the welcome given to investors and prospects was encouraging from the first day of the exhibition, which was organized in conjunction with Gading Marine Venture.

Members of the public can visit the Langkawi Royal Yatch Club for a test pilot session of the RM900,000 amphibious yacht, which has specifications of 7.5 meters long x 3.5 meters wide x 2.5 meters high and can be launched without the use of a docking system and using only a ram.

Earlier on March 8, the state of Pahang through PSK had signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) worth over RM500 million with Sealegs International and had made Pahang the first manufacturing center and service and marketing center in Southeast Asia.

The Chief Minister announced that the state government will continue to implement efforts to deal with flooding in Pahang apart from the use of amphibious boats.

Prior to that, on January the 4th, an amphibious boat handover was carried out to improve flood management competencies in this country making, Pahang the first country to have a bot in this regard. - MalaysiaGazette
